Enable Windows Exploit Protection

Use these steps to confirm Windows Exploit Protection is enabled and using the default protections.

You typically only need this if support asks for it, or if you changed exploit protection settings before.

1

Open Windows Security

Open Windows Security.

Use Start menu search and select Windows Security from the results.

2

Go to App & browser control

In the left menu, open App & browser control.

3

Open Exploit Protection Settings

In the Exploit protection section, click Exploit protection settings.

4

Enable protections

In System settings, make sure the mitigations are not turned off.

For each item:

  • If it’s set to Off, change it to Use default (recommended) or On.

  • Avoid per-app overrides unless support tells you to change them.

5

Restart to apply changes

Close Windows Security.

Restart your PC to ensure the settings are applied everywhere.

Once you’re done, Windows will enforce exploit mitigations system-wide using the configured defaults.
